Will you be requesting police presence to prevent speeding on Devon St during the Ontario St segment? Devon will be the alternative many more will use to get to the east end shops. This street is already used as a drag strip to avoid Ontario St and though it’s a 40km zone it’s rare that I see anyone driving 40km now. I don’t see a start or end date for the Ontario St project except for October. That’s a very long time to have Ontario st out of commission.

Thanks for your question. Ontario Street will remain open to traffic in both directions throughout construction. Local lane closures will be required on Ontario Street to prepare for the asphalt removal and paving operations. Ontario Street will be reduced to two travel lanes (one in each direction) for asphalt removal and paving, which is scheduled to take place from mid-August to early September. Stratford Police have been made aware of this project and have been asked to monitor the adjacent streets, including Devon Street, for speeding when resources are available.

Thanks for your question and comment. John Street is not scheduled to be resurfaced as part of the 2022 asphalt resurfacing program, but it is being considered for next year's program.
