The City of Stratford is planning on completing concrete repairs to five (5) bridge structures throughout the City, and replacing the TJ Dolan Retaining Wall in 2026 as identified in the 2023 OSIM inspection report. The repair works are necessary to maintain the structures expected service life.
The contract is separated into six (6) project areas of work, with their locations and construction duration timelines as follows:
Project Area #1: William Hutt Bridge, Waterloo Street (3-weeks)
Project Area #2: John Street Bridge (8-weeks).
Project Area #3: Lakeside Drive Bridge (3-weeks)
Project Area #4: Douglas Street Bridge (1-weeks)
Project Area #5: Romeo Street Retaining Wall (2-weeks)
Project Area #6: TJ Dolan Retaining Wall Replacement (3-months)
The scope of work generally includes handrail repairs and concrete patching on bridge elements such as sidewalks, deck edges, wingwalls, and soffits, with the extent of work varying at each location. The TJ Dolan Retaining Wall Project is a full replacement of the existing asset.
Traffic control will be implemented at each location and will be controlled through lane shifting or the use of portable traffic signals. TJ Dolan Drive will be closed for a period of time to facilitate the Retaining Wall replacement.
Pedestrian detours will also be implemented for the John Street Bridge repairs and TJ Dolan Multi-Use Trail (not overlapping), and a map of the detour can be found in the documents sections.
If you have any questions or comments, please reach out to the project manager in the Who's Listening section at right.
