Parking plays a crucial role in our everyday lives. With the ongoing Grand Trunk Redevelopment, the parking demand placed on the downtown parking system will evolve and change. It becomes essential to understand how the downtown parking system will function and adapt.

The City has initiated a strategic parking study to identify existing and future parking needs of the Downtown area, retaining R.J. Burnside & Associates to lead the study.

These upcoming challenges and opportunities will allow the City to develop a comprehensive and forward-thinking parking strategy that optimizes parking resources and respond as the Grand Trunk Redevelopment progresses.

Your voice matters, and we encourage you to be a part of this exciting initiative! We invite you to share your thoughts and experiences in several different ways:

Public Open House

We will be holding two public open houses to share our findings and get feedback directly from you.

Details on the first public open house are provided below. Additional information is also available in the Key Dates section to the right.

First Public Open House

  • Date: Thursday, July 16, 2026
  • Time: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Location: City Hall Auditorium (Relocated from Market Square)

Online Surveys (Currently Closed)

There are three surveys available below to ensure that your perspective is accurately captured, no matter your role within the community. Each survey contains approximately 12 to 18 questions which are mostly multiple choice. Each survey should take around 5 minutes. Feel free to participate in more than one survey if applicable. When you submit one survey, you can come back to this page to select the other survey.
