Huron Street Reconstruction Update

Work on the first phase of the Huron Street Reconstruction project, between the Huron Street bridge and John Street, has largely wrapped up for 2022.

Here’s an update on what has been done, and what work remains to be completed:

FINISHED

  • Underground infrastructure (watermain, storm sewer, sanitary sewer) installed
  • Some sidewalk installed
  • Curbs and gutters installed
  • Base layer of asphalt applied
  • Intersection improvements added

TO BE DONE

  • New traffic signals (winter 2022)
  • Intersection work at John Street (spring 2023)
  • Remaining sidewalks, driveways, turf restoration (spring 2023)
  • Surface coat of asphalt (summer 2023)

Please note that some sections of sidewalk on Huron Street, between John Street and the Huron Street bridge, will be unavailable. Pedestrians are asked to follow the detour signs.

We appreciate the community’s patience as we continue working on this important infrastructure upgrade.
