The City of Stratford is gathering feedback from the public regarding curbside waste collection. This input will be used to help inform Council’s decision on a new waste collection contract in late 2026. This contract will include garbage, green bin and yard waste collection.
Blue box recycling will not be included in the new waste collection contract, as the blue box program will shift to producer responsibility January 1, 2026. You will still receive blue box service through that program, and more information will be provided closer to the transition date.
The City of Stratford uses a “pay as you waste” system, where bag tags are required for curbside garbage collection. Revenue from the tags is used to pay for the collection and disposal of garbage at the landfill site. One of the goals of the pay-as-you-waste system is to encourage people to generate less waste, and divert as much as possible to their green bin and recycling bin. Less garbage at the curb means fewer bag tags, which in turn means reduced costs.
Please fill out the brief survey below to give us your thoughts on Stratford's curbside waste collection program. The survey will be open until March 14, 2025.
